A Finnish youth shot up his school, and CNN phrases it thusly:*
YouTube link to deadly school shootings
There isn't much of a link, as the article goes on to show. Auvinen posted various manifestos and clips, which are apparently offline. No mysterious clues, no secrets revealed.
One might rephrase the headline more accurately as "automatic weapon link to deadly shootings," "aggression linked to deadly shooting." But there's media buzz to be had by linking instead to a shiny new technology. And resonance for that buzz if the link has something unpleasant or uncanny.
YouTube is apparently in the early stages of developing a fearsome reputation. Unlike computer games or blogs, old hands at hosting evil things in the mediasphere, YouTube is being explored to see what hint of uncanny charge it can hold.
*Actually, that quote is too small. CNN.com made than an H1 header.
