Exploring Voices in the Static: a new... something
Voices in the Static appeared first in my email box, with this message:
dimensions
That's it. So I opened a new tab, tried out the domain name from the email address, @voicesinthestatic.com. I found this site. It has a long audio track built in (mp3 here), and this animated .gif repeating across the screen:
Nothing else at all in the source code. Title bar reads "stare into us".
Poking around, I found little. Nothing on Technorati or Google Blogsearch. So over to Unfiction, where I find that others have received the email, then also a link to this Craigslist post:
Over to email, where I write "echo" back, asking which dimensions I should listen to. A reply comes:
what is wrong
with her
Dimensions, dimensions... nothing. But Unfiction figures out why I had no luck using "dimensions" as a file name. It was "sleep", or http://voicesinthestatic.com/sleep.htm .
Title bar reads "perchance to dream." Music is classic 50s do-wop. Source code has some nice Morse code HTML, leading to "head of a man." And that dark static is a live link, leading to http://voicesinthestatic.com/thedoor.htm . Which has this image, the first non-animated one in the project so far:
Doors-y music plays. Title bar reads "speak in rhythm". Source had has Morse code, ". .. ... ..", which is "EISI."
And there I stop for now, pressed for time, down in the rabbit hole!
Beautiful images. I'll be jumping down that rabbit hole too after seeing them.

I must confess to falling behind on the Unfiction thread, Aaron. Will try to catch up after this week's second trip.
