Yet another spin on fearing social media, as a murderer gets nicknamed "the Craigslist Killer." No, that's not a newspaper's fantasy about somehow returning to profitability. The alleged killer has apparently used Craigslist to connect with one or two victims, and that has become his leading indicator.
The Boston Herald seems to be enjoying the story, based on the article's pulp prose:
The gun-toting savage has been targeting escorts and masseuses who advertise online and work out of pricey downtown Boston hotel rooms.
The stunning Brisman, 26, of New York, was shot to death Tuesday night in the Marriott Copley Place...
The story also dives into surveillance, publishing security cam photos of "a person of interest."

Wow--I thought for a minute I'd discovered my son's secret blog, secret identity, secret profession ... he does live in Massachusetts now, after all.
But no. Interesting story nevertheless!

The guy they've arrested seems to be a med student, which adds another Gothic angle to the story. It will be interesting to see how the case (and the coverage of it) progresses.

I don't think we should be blaming this crime on craigslist. I think we should blame crimes like this on Hollywood and shows like Law & Order. These are the people that glamorize murder and posion the minds of men.
I can't even watch Movies anymore. It is always about some murder story and how glamorous killers are. The victim is always a woman. It is always the same sick stupid story over and over again. Hollywood seems to lack imagination or creativity for anything new.

Doc Searls notes that such stories make Craigslist look bad, unnecessarily:
