One quick snippet of fearing social media is found in Maureen
Dowd's quick snapshot of Facebook, in The New York Times:
Facebook, more commonly used by kids hooking up and cyberstalking.
It's perhaps unfair to draw attention to a single comment like this, or to take Dowd, well, seriously. But consider:
- It's the New York Times. Journal of record and all. And they publish - nay, celebrate, trade on - this writing.
- It's factually wrong (average age of FB users has shot up, and uses are diverse).
- It's snark, which takes some of the sting out... while adding a layer of dismissal. It's a way of keeping a fearful view intact.
