Another creepy robot project comes now from Italy, and this time the project imitates a child. iCub (yes) aims to reproduce the mind and learning abilities of a young child. And also terrify us with its cold Kabuki stare:
What disturbs me more is that the face is not connected to a similarly mimetic head. No, the face is a mask, attached to a sleek black skull. Here, see the view from over its shoulder, as iCub considers an Edenic red object and wonder if it can simulate the snake somehow:

That was really disturbing, Andrew. There's the creepy uncanny valley level, with the walking... thing. But there's also the boy rider's self-confidence; is he on the way to appreciating robot slaves?
