The mobile phone no-service horror cliche

Cell phones have made it harder to kidnap people these days. So the devices must be removed from victims-to-be in scary stories. At least phones should be disabled in some way.

This clip does a fine job of aggregating horror movie scenes where phones don't work. It's well excerpted, and should feel very familiar:
