Here's a headline which sounds like cyberpunk science fiction:
Allegedly the baseball star's cryonically preserved head was tormented in situ. Even taken out and used for batting practice.
The capitating charge has elicited vigorous denials. So vigorous that we get another headline from CBS:
You might be satisfied with imagining that kind of science fiction storyline, like a plot from a lost Phil Dick story. But it gets much better:
Prophetic. Severed. Frozen. Head. Used by Fox News. Yes, we now have a return to Roger Bacon's brazen head. In fact, this idea has been around for a while. And is still alive - get Grant Morrison on the red phone! Use your phone trait to call Warren Ellis!
(thanks to noble catherwood)
This is, understandably, big news up here in Massachusetts. Ted Williams was the hero of my oldest brother, who steadfastly refuses to talk about the cryogenic issue at all. Cryogenics is fringe enough that even the initial freezing constituted a massive bodily violation to fans. To hear about further violation(s) is just devastating to them.
As it is, rumors are that much worse went on at Alcor. That place is likely a gothic gold mine, between the mad science aspects and the body-norm-violation and body-violation in general aspects. I'm waiting for the sex allegations, myself.
