Does a classic Russian sf novel contain a hidden vampire story? One Making Light blogger makes the case for We's vampirism.
Interesting argument. I'm not entirely persuaded, since there are powerful explanations for each of the textual notes. Teeth being threatening in a predatory sense, temporary deaths classically a euphemism for orgasm, etc. Plus the book calls out the myth of Mephistopheles more clearly. But it's fun to think through.
