A Florida man apparently killed his wife, then shared the news over Facebook.
“I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news,” Medina wrote in his grammar-challenged post, according to multiple reports. “My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me,” the post added.
Plus a picture of the dead woman. Comments naturally followed on this thread:
Facebook friends commented on the photo in shock.
"That is my friend there."
"What happened???? derek."
Other Facebook users reacted with disgust to the posting of the picture of his wife's corpse. She was 26. "this is crazy omg ... guy kills his wife post pic in facebook."
The disgust did not prevent the commenters from sharing Medina's photo. Again and again.
We should appreciate CNN's professional admiration for the spreading of horror.
This kind of story seems to be more about a person or incident, and less about the platform. Facebook itself doesn't appear to have a grim reputation as a result.
