Dark times are coming for us, broods Japanese magazine Sapio. According to Japan Times*,
Japan, it says, is being “swallowed up” by a “black society” — “black” in the sense of good people’s worst nightmares come horrifyingly to life.
These nightmares are various, including murder, elder shoplifting, on-demand semi-child-prostitution and general badness. “[W]e’re seeing a sinister society in which anyone can suddenly turn criminal.”
There is a digital angle, although it's tricky:
the Internet has so vastly enlarged the realm of the possible that, quite literally, the impossible or unthinkable has vanished into the ether.
*Sapio's current issue isn't online, at least in English, apparently.
