18 May.--I have been down to look at that room again in daylight, for I must know the truth. When I got to the doorway at the top of the stairs I found it closed. It had been so forcibly driven against the jamb that part of the woodwork was splintered. I could see that the bolt of the lock had not been shot, but the door is fastened from the inside. I fear it was no dream, and must act on this surmise.

Never really thought about this before, but it took Jonathan two days to screw up his courage to go back to that room. That kinda ups the creepy.

Good point. Reading this way, through the blog's chronology, really opens up the timeline!

Sorry for the double posting last time - it's those Transylvanian computers! :)
I must clarify what I meant by saying I was in that room. High up in the Borgo Pass there's a Castle Dracula Hotel - built in 1983 for the tourist trade. We stayed there overnight on our journey from Transylvania east into Bucovina. In the cellar of the hotel is a room with a coffin and paintings of vampires. Sort of tacky, but hey - it's in a "castle" in the Borgo Pass and it's all fiction.
What I found REALLY tacky is the presence of Vlad-as-vampire souvenirs in the stalls around various historical sites.
We will be putting together a photo gallery (of hundreds of pictures). When it's ready, I'll send along the URL.
