This letter is a nice example of how social mores have changed. Lucy appears to be upset that she has reached the ripe old age of 20 without getting a proposal, which seems strange to me.

Mild spoilers are ahead. I'll leave a space so as to not spoil those who do not wish to be spoiled.

There is a bit of what looks like subtle foreshadowing to me here, too, with Lucy wishing it were possible for her to marry three men. Later on, Arthur makes a reference which sends Van Helsing into hysterics, because, if Arthur is right, Lucy is a polyandrist, and she has married Van Helsing in addition to her three earlier suitors. I wonder if Stoker intended this from the beginning, or even if he intended it at all!
