I only met Ingrid Pitt once, at the 2000 World Dracula Congress. It was in Transylvania, of course. I gave a paper about Dracula and war (here) (part of a project I hope to return to).
A lot of stuff happened there, not the least being an accidental adventure through the local forest in deepening gloom.
But there I met Ingrid Pitt, a figure from my imagination (yes, yes). She was a riot, furiously talking to everyone, ready to party and share memories.
I even sat with Ingrid Pitt upon a box of Transylvanian earth:
You will be missed, Ingrid.
Many thanks to Elizabeth Miller (pictured) for arranging the whole thing!
Some good obits: Coilhouse, Pitt of Horror,
Thanks for posting. Brings back many happy memories! I'd kept in touch with Ingrid ever since, visiting her several times in London. She was a hoot!

It is pity that people persist in seeing Dracula as a fictional vampire and do not try to discover the real character, Vlad Tepes Impaler, as he really was! He was the ruler of Walachia in the XV century and I think it is important for Dracula fans to find his real life as it was, an excellent Vlad the Impaler biography!
