This explains why the Count made his earlier trip out of the castle while wearing Harker's spare suit. He had to arrange for carpenters to build his fifty earth-boxes, and to have them delivered to the castle. Now that he had perfected his English accent, he might have been able to pass himself off as an Englishman (speaking the local language in an English accent). Presumably he dealt with Slovaks on this errand; as an ethnic minority they might have been less likely to discuss this business with other locals.
