Armin Meiwes, the German cannibal we noted last week, is now being tried for the crime. This public trial offered Meiwes the opportunity to reflect on his successful cannibalism.
Meiwes alleges that his victim, Bernd Juergen Brandes, wanted to die, and in this way his (gradual) death could be considered something like euthanasia. For his part, Meiwes felt - and continues to feel - a powerful sense of communion with Brandes.
The internet-is-scary theme of this story continues in the language of reports.
As we suggested, and as faithful Infocult readers have pointed out, the video Meiwes made of events should hit the internet shortly, as part of a growing tradition. Additionally, another movie demands to be made from the sequence of near-victim stories leading up to Brandes, Brandes' fate, and the chorus of Web cannibal-philes.
