MSN Sandbox lets us know that Microsoft has soft-launched MSN Filter, which looks like a cross between portal and blog aggregator. "Blog" here means "Microsoft's Spaces."
The interface looks like Google News, or MyYahoo, portraying a series of channels with headers and multiple links under each. Categories are pretty generic, like Technology. So far, each link leads to a grouping of MSN Spaces blogs.
So what to make of it? Is it an attempt to leverage user-generated blog content, relying on the old portal approach? What to make of this part, which seems to touch on the search wars:
Share Knowledge - Found something cool? Send it to Filter to share with the community. Ask Questions - Got a question? Then just ask! We'll post the questions and the community will answer.
Those are, alas, unlinked.
Then there's the gesture towards MSN's Start.com. What is this thing? What rough beast now slouches...?
