Death in Sakkara is a pleasant Web-based adventure game from the BBC. It combines comic strip narration, adventure game dialogue maps, several action-oriented minigames, all published in Flash with a strong whiff of 1930s pulp. Multimedia is in full play, between ambient soundtracks, static and panning images, links via hot spot or text box. The story is fairly linear, with multiple branches allowed to coincide back on the path.
I'm in episode 2 now.
(thanks, Steve!)
Do you know about The Seven Noble Kinsmen, as well? Even more up your alley, I think -- very creepy stuff. Kind of Ten Little Indians meets Shakespearean theater. Give it a look: http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/shakespeare/game.shtml
Funny to think this quality of game is free now. Remember when Seventh Guest was a big deal? :)
