You might want to check out Takeshi Shimizu's (Ju-on) 2004 film Marebito. Much of the first act is filmed in various deep underground locations in an around Tokyo. It's a bit of cross between a vampire movie and the myth of Orpheus, with a strong dose of Poe-influenced guilt and madness.
Not a great movie, but certainly worth a rental, if for no other reason than the underground Tokyo sequences.
