Two reports appeared about a fascinating historical media recreation. Wired and the New York Times both explored John Coffer's work in restoring tintypes, a nineteenth-century form of photography. Coffer has also mastered a collodial process, panoramas, and even a movie, with the help of an apprentice. The Wired piece goes into the technical and historical details in greater depth than does the NYT article, which is grimly
fascinated by Coffer's lifestyle.
