New media always turn to horror, eventually. And digital media has been using the Gothic for a long time, from horror stories on the web to many, many Gothic games. Where is the anthology?
Today's case: the H.P. Lovecraft Commonplace Book Project, a collection of new interactive fiction with Lovecraftian themes. Titles include "Dead Cities," "Ecdysis," "The Cellar," "Handyman Wanted," "Beyond the Threshold," and more. You can download various free readers to run each of these. I've been enjoying Gargoyle.
Nick Montfort reminds us of previous Lovecraftian interactive fiction, like the browser-based "Case of Randolph Carter", and Michael Gentry's famous Anchorhead (1998).
