Zom
bies are big; even Time gets it now.
Time misses huge bleeding chunks of the zombie canon, unsurprisingly. Like a stereotype of bad internet content, Time's article can only see things in the present, bereft of history. There is no zombie movie prior to George Romero, you see. No folklore. Nothing in print before 2006 or so. Bah. Some Bela Lugosi is in order, for starters.
At least, at the article's very end, is a glimmer of awareness. The author calls zombies "the official monster of the recession." But they are just plucky recessionists, not the shambling masses feared by the elite, as one model has it. At least it's an analytical start.

My family thought of you (and Jim Groom too, natch) as we read this article over a tasty Mexican lunch last Saturday. Have you heard the song "Re Your Brains"?
