A strange story from Hardin, Montana sounds like an unpublished cyberpunk tale. An entity called American Police Force (APF) rolled into town, operating Hardin's jail and acting like cops. APF also announced its intention to build a police training center in Hardin.
Except that things turned strange. APF SUVs sported "City of Hardin Police Force" logos... but the town doesn't have a police unit, being too small. Their site claimed to be part of Blackwater, but isn't. The questions ramified:
...where is American Police Force getting the money for this venture?
[T]he town has had to tamp down reports on conspiracy Web sites that APF plans to impose experimental H1N1 vaccines on residents under threat of quarantine in the jail...
Then the story jumped genres, from weird tale to true crime. It turns out APF's director is a known and repeat felon.
And there's more. Now Montana's attorney general is looking into things. So perhaps the story is about a con.
But who's behind "Hilton"?
What an ARG this could have been...
