Aurora is a nice, short, creey game. The game style is point-and-click mystery, crossed with escape-the-room. The story form is "weird Western", that hybrid of three classic national traditions, Western adventure with science fiction and/or American Gothic.
Aurora's plot concerns your investigation of a very dilapidated, grim town, the ominously-named Red Hill. You've been hurled into town via a Wizard of Oz style storm, and after a quick intro sketching out a gold rush failure biographical story, all depicted in comic style.
The game proper's visuals are largely static, hand-drawn images. A looping soundtrack keeps the tone somber. Interactions with objects are simple; conversations are also basic.
The plot proceeds very easily, until it requires one bit of problem-solving based on a little lateral thinking or game experience.
One nice feature is the way visuals change following story events, like chalk boards showing new writing without any evidence of a writer, or rapid weather transformations.
