I only met Ingrid Pitt once, at the 2000 World Dracula Congress. It was in Transylvania, of course. I gave a paper about Dracula and war (here) (part of a project I hope to return to).
A lot of stuff happened there, not the least being an accidental adventure through the local forest in deepening gloom.
But there I met Ingrid Pitt, a figure from my imagination (yes, yes). She was a riot, furiously talking to everyone, ready to party and share memories.
I even sat with Ingrid Pitt upon a box of Transylvanian earth:
You will be missed, Ingrid.

Oddly, I recognized Ms. Pitt from the photo above... but not from a vampire movie. From another one she was in. To each his own youthful imagination. ;)
