Interesting argument. I'm not entirely persuaded, since there are powerful explanations for each of the textual notes. Teeth being threatening in a predatory sense, temporary deaths classically a euphemism for orgasm, etc. Plus the book calls out the myth of Mephistopheles more clearly. But it's fun to think through.

This makes me want gothic stuff more! Books are also my thing… so I’ll probably check this one out. I haven’t heard from any of my friends whom I texted about this. They probably have a copy to share, hehe.
