Apparently it is possible to coax Google Translate into offering responses that are very different from translations.
This largely happens with more recently added languages, including those with smaller vocabularies.
Sometimes the results are strange:

Vice speculates about training neural networks on religious texts, then goes right for the Infocult: "On Twitter, people have blamed the strange translations on ghosts and demons."
